12/27/2004: My New Journal
That's what I get for trying to modify this software on my live site. Now missing: posts about life at Kwaj, Sherry's medical adventure out there, and our return. Also, a couple of jokes. Oh well; it prompted me to reorganize the site and upgrade the software to handle journal posts on separate pages. With any luck I didn't mess up backward compatability with the familys' websites.
It's the Christmas season, and we're having a fine one. We just brought Eric back to Brighton after a great three-day visit. Had all the kids (and grandkid) in the house on Christmas day, ate good food, and generally enjoyed each others' company. Finally got the main level of the house straight; it's tough having two households worth of stuff!
We learned a lot about living, living on Kwajalein. It shows in our Christmas travails: less stuff, more experience. We miss our friends, and the easy socializing. And I'll always remember playing "Santa Kwaj" last year - never had a more enthusiastic audience in these Kwaj kids, and their wants were so simple. Back in "the world," so much more gimme, gotcha, gettit. We may never go back, but the experience will influence our lives for a long time.
