Its Sunday morning, and I'm writing this in the kitchen, watching my father-in-law cook eggs benedict for breakfast. We've had a fine visit with Sherry's dad and mom, shopping in Old Colorado City yesterday and making good meals since Friday night. They leave later this morning, and we go to Brighton to visit Eric. A rather busy weekend. So, why does a weekend like this recharge my batteries, 'specially after a grueling week at work?
First, it helps that I like my job. I think that actually looking forward to going back to work shortens the time you need to recharge, like, you don't have to spend time bracing yourself for the shock of re-immersion. In jobs I liked less, I remember the value of three-day weekends in doing just that.
Second, at least one decent night's sleep. Actually, I'm not sure whether it's the duration of sleep as much as getting to wake up after the sun comes up.
Third, hang out with people you like. I've got it good there; I just love hanging with my wife and son, and I enjoy my in-laws too. We all had a great time just doing simple stuff. Shandra, Josh and Logan dropped by too, and made it a real family reunion.
At any rate, after a grueling two weeks I'm ready to get back to work because I got to spend a really great time with my family.
